READ: On Dec 13th, KOSUN smoothly passed the in-situ auditing of ISO14001 Environmental Management System and OHSAS18001 Occupation Health Safety Management System Certification conducted by Baer International Certification Center. This meant that Xi’an KOSUN Machinery Co., Ltd. has got the “Green Permit” into international market.

ISO14001, called ISO14001 Environmental Management System Certification in full, mainly defines the conformity assessment performed by a third-party certification organization based on ISO14001 standards. It is the standards issued by International Standardization Organization and subject to ISO14000 standard family. It was originally issued in 1996 for the first time and was reviewed by ISO(International Standardization Organization) in 2004. Its newest version is ISO14001-2004.

READ: On Dec 20th, two sets of KOSUN Solids Control Systems delivered to Yantai Jereh were being packed and loaded in KOSUN Jingwei Solids Control System Factory, meantime, another set was also in the process of being packed in KOSUN Yongle Oil Drilling Circulating System Factory. According to the Sales Department, KOSUN offered totally five sets of solids control systems to Yantai Jereh, three amoong which were about to be sent soon.

On Dec 20th, two sets of KOSUN Solids Control Systems delivered to Yantai Jereh were being packed and loaded in KOSUN Jingwei Solids Control System Factory, meantime, another set was also in the process of being packed in KOSUN Yongle Oil Drilling Circulating System Factory. According to the Sales Department, KOSUN offered totally five sets of solids control systems to Yantai Jereh, three amoong which were about to be sent soon.

It is reported that Xi’an KOSUN Machinery Co., Ltd. and Yantai Jereh Oilfield Services Group have reached the agreement and signed the contract about five sets of solids control systems at the end of September.

This is the ordered desander by Yantai Jereh.

  On Nov 28th, KOSUN’s first monthly was finally put online after one-month group discussion and efforts as well as emendations done by the technique team, art designing team, graphic designing team and editing team of EC Department.

KOSUN Cup Basketball and Badminton Game Successfully Ends

On Dec 14th, the 1st KOSUN Cup Basketball and Badminton Game opened the prelude in Shui’an Garden Stadium located in Jingwei New District, which congregated participants from KOSUN’s office in Gaoxin District, Jingwei Solids Control Equipment Factory and Yongle Solids Control Equipment Factory.

“The 1st KOSUN Cup Basketball Friendly” blew its starting whistle at 10 a.m. when Gaoxin Office Team and Factory League began to go head to head in Shui’an Garden Stadium. Though it was in the depth of cold winter outside, it was going ahead at full steam inside, with both team fighting physically sometimes by a cute pass and sometimes by a wonderful perimeter shot, passing the basketball flexibly and rapidly via the hands and basket. At last, Gaoxin Office Team outclassed Factory League at 55-40 in the game.

Besides, the visiting European client who came for negotiation on cooperation in KOSUN’s factory also had the chance to watch the game and to take the group photos with the players.

In the afternoon, it was the turn for KOSUN’s “I AM KING OF BADMINTON” game to begin. 8 players competed fiercely with each other in the Stadium and 3 of them won over the others.

KOSUN New Staff Sucessfully Graduate from Outward Bound School

  On the afternoon of Sept 28th, a 50-people bus took a group of trainees to Qingxin Yard Outward Bound School where they would go through tough training programmes for the next two days. They were recently recruited staff from Xi’an KOSUN Machinery Co., Ltd..

  After several-month adjustment to the new working environment, the new-comers were given the chance to be more acquainted mutually. The company decided to organize a two-day Outward Bound at the end of November at the foot of Qing Ranges in order to enhance bi- and multi-lateral communication among staff and to teach them team work spirit.

  Outward Bound is also called Experiential Learning. The name derives from a nautical expression that refers to the moment a ship leaves the pier, afterwards the ship will set out for unexpected journey therein many challenges will occur to it. Generally, Outward Bound programs aim to foster the personal growth and social skills of participants by using challenging expeditions in the outdoors. 

  These days turned out to be ever unforgettable and meaning since the staff not only have tossed a ball 300 times by a huge drum controlled by almost 20 people via strings, but also have tried walking on 3-cm-diameter steel wire hanging 8 meters high hand in hand with another person, whose degree of difficulty stunned every one at first but later was surmounted by collective efforts of team. They learnt to obey, they learnt to cooperate, and they were taught to serve and help.

      On Nov 12th, 31 young “guests” visited KOSUN Yongle Solids Control System Factory. They were recently recruited into Xi’an KOSUN Machinery Co., Ltd., which organized this study visit in factory especially for them to have a thorough knowledge of products and for their convenience at work.

      Led by the technician, the staff saw ZJ50 Solids Control System to be sent to Europe very soon and the products in Black Rhino Series on that day. During the vist, the technician made a detailed demonstration on such solids control equipment as Shale Shaker, Decanter Centrifuge, Mud Cleaner, Desilter, Desander, Vaccum Degasser, etc. and had a good communication with new staff who thereof understood more about company products.

     Prior to this, another half-month study tour in factory was also organized by HR Department for some new staff to know process flows and product features via long-term communication with workers. Then were followed by the product trainings for all new comers as well as consequent examinations. All these together deepened their understanding of products. This time, they, who did not participate in factory training, also observed the products in person, getting a better appreciation of the products and company.

Petroleum Industry’s Impacts on Environment

Ever since Mid September, Russia has been making continuous headlines on www.reuters.com by its actions against protestors arrested at Prirazlomnaya oil platform---owned by state-backed oil drilling company, Gazprom. Recently, they just released three Russian protestors on bail and the others were still remained behind bars. Why did these people protest though they would have predicted such an angry and uncompromising reaction from Russian govt? They were actually all from a environmental organization based in Netherland called Greenpeace. Russia’s drilling acts had engendered great concern among people for the possible environmental damages. Greenpeace protestors tried to stop them by attacking one of the platforms in its Arctic oil drilling field.

The dispute between Russia and the organization caused sensation on a large scale. Many countries disapproved Russian reactions against the protestors, which has resulted in crisis for itself worldwide.

However, the point is we need to stop scratching the surface and see through disputes to discover what warining lessons hide exactly behind. 

Nature we subsist on is actually comprised by several significant, like air, water and soil, and many tiny ecosystems which help balance the development and growth of lives in it. They do not exist independently immune of affects from the others, but correlate with one another intimately. One damaged, the rest will not remain intact either. 

Over years, oil exploration activities have brought large-scale pollution and contamination. Many types of waste are generated by oil drilling, production, stimulation, gas processing and accidental releases. Alll these hazard human life and wildlife.

Impact on Air:

Fast human development also brings along high demands for faster transportation. To meet these demands, petroleum activities are more intensified, bring about huge amount of pollution. Human burn coal, oil, crude, etc almost everyday at a very rapid speed. This is releasing carbon stored in the fuel into the atmosphere and upsetting the carbon cycle. When more carbon dioxide is emitted into the atmosphere, it will lock more heat on the Earth’s surface, raising the global temperature. This phenomenon is called global warming. Statistics show that the global temperature has risen half a degree centigrade in the last century. If the trend is not curbed, by the year of 2100, the temp will increase another 1.4-5.8 celsius degrees, causing melting of glaciers and flooding of coastal cities.

Impact on Water:

Water pollution comes primarily from petroleum industries. The many causes of that include industrial emissions, oil spills, untreated waste water, substances discharged by vessels, substances carried to the sea by rivers and so on. All those exert severe damaging effects on water ecosystem. Not only will human not be able to drink wholesome and sanitary water, but also many marine animal species will perish since if the bottom dwelling organisms like planktons die, the rest food chain will be broken. 

Impact on Soil:

Soil pollution is mainly the consequence of poor waste management. Besides, accidental blowouts and spills destroy the natural forests. The soil has lost its fertility and will be no good fro trees, crops and vegetable for decades. Therefore, human will face threats of food shortage and green cover loss and wildlife extinction.

Even so, we have to admit we cannot do without petroleum penetrating into all aspects of our daily life. We use them to cook food, fuel the vehicles, to heat our homes, to make products like medicines and plastics and so on. However, every sword has two blades, when we are benefiting from petroleum, it is also producing hazards for us. We should all stand up together against the contamination while keeping our life going on by means of technological inventions, innovations and scientific advances.
